Immunoglobulin IgM
About Immunoglobulin IgM test
This test is used to determine the level of immunoglobulin IgM in your blood. Following exposure to germs, IgM antibodies are the initial immunoglobulins produced by your body. These antibodies offer temporary protection while your body generates additional antibodies. IgM antibodies can be found in both your blood and lymph fluid, which is responsible for transporting infection-fighting cells throughout your body.
To distinguish between an acute infection and a chronic infection, it is recommended to undergo an IgM immunoglobulin test
